MONROE, La.聽鈥� As part of 不良研究所's celebration of Women's History Month, the university will host a Women's Symposium on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Student Union Building (SUB) ballrooms, located聽on the聽second floor of the SUB.

The Women鈥檚 Symposium will feature discussions聽about issues women face every day in a panelist/moderator and round-table format.

鈥淚t is my pleasure to invite anyone interested in learning more about women鈥檚 topics to attend the Women鈥檚 Symposium,鈥� said Kristin Chandler, chair of the Women鈥檚 Symposium. 鈥淲omen now earn over half of all higher education degrees, and demographically, comprise nearly two-thirds of 不良研究所鈥檚 student body. Women make up nearly half of the workforce, while increasingly seeking leadership positions into historically male-dominated fields.鈥�

Chandler said the mission of the Women鈥檚 Symposium is to support and empower women towards their education and career goals.

鈥淥ur goal is that participants will gain a sense of comradery with the Women鈥檚 Symposium presenters and Keynote Speaker, Susan Banowsky. I believe in the positive power of supporting each other towards personal, social, and economic good, which is what the Women鈥檚 Symposium encompasses,鈥� Chandler said.

Three main discussion tracks, covering eleven essential women's issues, are on the Symposium agenda: Education and Transition, Professional Development and Interactions, and Wealth and Health.

The panelists are a mix of community and 不良研究所 women who exemplify professionalism and leadership.聽

The Women's Symposium will feature Susan Banowsky, business owner, attorney, and former TV news producer as its keynote speaker during a continental breakfast.聽

The afternoon will conclude with the prestigious Women鈥檚 Symposium Awards, presented to honor three women from northeast Louisiana.

Registration is $20 for the general public, which includes lunch and admission to three sessions.聽Seating is limited. Registration is free for 不良研究所 students.
